Marketing D Pinocchio

This Christmas, the must see show for both adults and children is the musical ‘Pinocchio’ at the Chicken Shed theatre in Cat Hill, Middlesex. Loved by children for generations, the story of the wooden puppet that becomes a boy has been turned into a wonderful musical. Running from the 9th December 2009 to the 16th January 2010 the two hour show is a Christmas treat for all ages.

At the Chicken Shed we have a reputation for putting on inclusive theatre - adults and children with all abilities take part in our shows. In fact, we encourage anyone who loves performing to take the stage. Reflecting this, there are four separate casts over the five week run involving 800 or so performers (200 per cast)

Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in the wheel chair-friendly access to both stage and the 400-seater auditorium. The hearing impaired can follow the action and dialogue through the presence of signing performers.

There is a bar serving food and drink and these can be ordered before the show, during the interval and after the show.

Our front-of-house team are on hand to help if you need anything. We are always happy to help and like to make our public feel welcome and part of our theatre.

Tickets

Adults: £16.00 (Concessions: £12.00)

Time: 7.30 – 9.30 (Interval of 20 minutes at the end of act 1)

  1. hi zoe

Good start to your marketing piece. It is well layed out with clear and simple writing - which makes it easy to read.
I feel you could elebrate on the plot of the play to give the reader a better idea of the show. Also a picture of the show may break up the writing visually and also be eye catching for the reader. Also a title may be good to draw the reader into your piece like, 'Want to do something different this christmas with the family?' what do you think?

I think you could also put in booking information after the ticket prices or even a website to get more information.

I agree, good to see clear simple language.

In the Classroom session we had on 9th December we discussed the fact that many creative professionals have conditions like dyslexia that sometimes make it more difficult to read or write.

What we did not mention is that often graphic designers have to produce web-based or paper-based marketing products that use dyslexic-friendly text and colours that enhance readability for the general public who might have difficulty in reading some types of text.

By keeping you text simple - this might be a way of enhancing the inclusivity of your piece. I have noticed you have also used a lot of 'we' and 'our' phrases...

    What do you think?

  4. Hi zoe,

Great start! I like that your quite persasive with your language 'the must see show' ect. I think the simplicity works, but I think if you put more information about the plot and maybe a picture, it might be more pleasing to the eye, as Laura suggested. Personally, I would take out the bar part, as it deflects from the show, maybe adding it to the end, will make it more effective.

You cant use microsoft to do changes, but you can change the colour when you edit the piece on blogger.

    Good work Zoe
